About

Hi there, thanks for checking out wildernesswanderings.org, a travel blog with a focus on adventure (where appropriate!)

My name is Tony and I’m a 30-something guy from Liverpool who, like many others, caught the travel bug years ago during a summer in which myself and a few mates toured around Europe, stopping in 8 countries along the way.

It was my first ever taste of adventure and something quite out of character for myself; I’ve always been a bit of a home-boy and family holidays for me would consist of a trip to Brighton or Cornwall so I never really grew up with the desire to see the world.

After I finished university, a big group of mates were going away to celebrate the end of an era, from the beginning I said I wasn’t interested, travelling just didn’t appeal to me so had no involvement in the planning and said we’d do something when they all got back. Two weeks before the big trip and one of the boys dropped out and couldn’t make it and everyone just convinced me to go (flight was free/accommodation had all been paid for and all I needed was spending money). It was so last minute and after a lot of peer pressure, I just thought…F*** it and booked a summer away.

That trip was honestly the best 6 weeks of my life, I learnt new things, discovered different cultures and food, met some great people and made life-long memories.

I still can’t believe how adamant I was about not going and how much those few weeks changed my outlook on life to the point now where travelling is all I want to do.

Since then, I’ve been saving for a RTW trip, hopefully starting in Koh Samui, before heading on to Phuket, then onto mainland Thailand. I’ve got a mate living in New Zealand, so the end aim is to get to there in one piece.

This blog is about my trips and travels, along with providing tips and advice for travelling – be it how to plan your trip, how to save money on flights, or destination guides – things to do, where to go, what to eat etc.

I try to blog as much as I can but as you travellers may know, the internet isn’t always the easiest to find so there may be times when I am a little quiet but don’t worry as you know I’ll be exploring some remote country having the time of my life.

If you’ve any questions about the site feel free to mail me via the contact page and I’ll do my best to get back to you ASAP.

Alternatively, if you’re a bit of a traveller and would like to blog for us, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and become part of the Wilderness Wanderings family.

I hope you enjoy Wilderness Wanderings and will look forward to hearing from you soon.
Tony
