Adventurous Group Tours 2017

what you need to make it happen. Whether it’s a family, a group of friends, or co-workers, having a shared experience that pushes you out of your comfort zone can do a lot to put everyone back on the same page with a slightly fresher perspective. Keep these ideas in mind if you’re wondering if Puerto Vallarta is safe or if you’re tired of the same-old, same old.

Safaris

There are plenty of tour companies that will take you to unusual places in Africa, and the options range from basic accommodations to the most luxurious of tents and facilities. Find experienced and charismatic guides to take you around, and show you just how delicate and awesome the food chain can really be. From the Sahara to the Kalahari, there’s plenty of ground to cover for a group that needs to get away from the city.

This is certainly one of the most adventurous activities that you can do as a group, but you don’t necessarily have to fly over to Africa to do it. If you don’t want to get up close and personal with the lions and tigers, you can always go on a guided tour of your zoo, local forest or find out where to go in Manhattan. If you want to get creative, you could do your own safari through a local park. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, but it should teach everyone a little something about their surroundings (both flora and fauna!)

River Cruises

River cruises are appealing to people who want to see several unique places without having to pack and unpack their suitcases every other day. They’re smaller, so guests don’t necessarily feel swallowed up the way they would on a big ocean liner. They’re also good for people who are prone to seasickness because the river is far gentler than any ocean could be. River cruises are usually entirely planned, which is good for the group who wants to reconnect with each other (or with other people on the tour.) Planning can certainly have its advantages and so can spontaneity, but it can also put people under a lot of pressure to get every detail right.

But if you can’t afford a trip across the pond to a river like the Danube or the Seine, you can probably find an opportunity in your town. Look for guided boat tours around local lakes or rivers if you can’t take a major vacation right now.

Hiking

Guided hiking tours give you the chance to learn more about an area in detail, which can give you a deeper understanding of nature. Rather than just trekking past patches of grass and dirt, you can learn how to identify the outdoor patterns that determine how everything works. Whether you study animal behavior or plant life, you’ll start to develop your own insight into how everything works. This kind of in-depth exploration is always more fun with a group because everyone can add their own opinions and observations to the mix.

One pro tip is to go with a guide who encourages a lot of open discussion or to turn the hike into a mini-project for the group. If everyone agrees to it, you can have the group read up on a particular hike or do other types of research into the land you’re going to visit. Learning the details not only makes you more of an expert on the subject, but it also gives you a chance to discover interesting facts (all of which can lead to more fun)!
