Getting old doesn’t mean having to stay at home when you used to go out seeing the world, but you should take your age into consideration when booking accommodation. If you’re heading on a city break here in the UK, you’ll find plenty of options that fit around your needs, and you might just find yourself comparing hotels against serviced apartments.
Here are just four reasons why serviced apartments might be a better idea.
- A Place to Relax
It’s easy to keep moving around and seeing everything there is to see when you’re younger, but older tourists often like to spend an afternoon or two taking a break from the sights. If you book a serviced apartment, you’ll have a living room area where you can watch television, talk, or read a book more easily than you could in a hotel room.
- A Convenient Location
One of the best things about serviced apartments is that they are usually converted from period buildings, and that puts them right in the centre of town. If you’re worried about getting worn out or having to walk a long way to reach the local attractions or catch a bus, it only makes sense to stay right in the centre. Unless you pick the most expensive ones, hotels are usually more on the outskirts.
- More Room to Move Around
One problem with hotel rooms is that they’re usually on the cramped side. Most will have two double beds and not much space for moving around – after all, they’re mainly designed for people who will only be popping in and out. This can be a problem for older people who find it hard to move around when a room is cramped.
- Added Privacy
We tend to value privacy more as we grow older. Hotels aren’t ideal in this regard since they accommodate more people, and they’re more likely to be noisy at night when you’re trying to get to sleep. Serviced apartment buildings only contain a few accommodations, so this shouldn’t be an issue.
