The Family Friendly Side of Dubai Holidays
Most of us typically associate Dubai with glamorous breaks for couples or groups of friends. And, to be fair, this is a destination that has earned its reputation as a millionaire’s playground over the years.
But don’t let that that fool you into thinking that Dubai should be overlooked as a family holiday destination. Far from it. This is a destination with something for everyone. There’s fine dining for the foodies, entertainment for groups, spas and incredible hotel resorts for those looking for luxury and a huge array of family friendly fun for those travelling with young children.
Here are some of our favourite family friendly attractions in Dubai:
1. Cool off at a Waterpark
There are a number of waterparks to choose from in Dubai, with Wild Wadi and Aquaventure being, perhaps, the better know. Whether your little ones want white knuckle thrills or they’re looking for something a little calmer, you’ll find it in either of these waterparks. They’re the perfect place to cool off from that hot desert sun and have some family fun.
2. Check out the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo
Take the little ones to look at the phenomenal array of fish and colourful underwater animals at the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo at Dubai Mall. As well as the vast numbers of species of fish, the underwater zoo houses at 750kg crocodile!
Children of all ages will be enchanted here.
3. Enjoy a Spot of Indoor Skydiving
While your little ones might be just a tad too young for actual skydiving over the Palm, at iFly Dubai they can enjoy a simulated indoor skydiving experience. That’s all the thrill of a skydive without actually having to throw your children from an aircraft!
4. Put the Kids to Work at Kidzania
Kidzania theme parks are a global hit and Dubai’s in no exception. Children can role-play in different jobs ranging from a fireman to checkout assistance and even an actor. Built to scale sets, buildings and places of work make this the biggest ‘let’s pretend’ game set your children will have enjoyed and it is both educational and fun at the same time.
5. Take in the Fountain Shows at Burj Khalifa
Fountain shows light up the lake at Burj Khalifa in a kaleidoscope of colours each night. Don’t forget your camera! This is one you’ll enjoy just as much as your children will. However, you might want to know the technique behind it, to appease the curiosity of your young scientists. If this is the case, you can simply read a little about projection mapping. Yes, be it the lighting of Burj Khalifa or of the lake in front of it, the spectacular lighting is the result of projection mapping. In case you are interested to learn more about this technique, you can look at websites like Immersive Me or fall back on similar online resouces.
Dubai for Families
So, there’s more to Dubai than might initially meet the eye and its popularity with families is growing. Many families opt to stay in nearby Ras al Khaimah, which is home to more all-inclusive resorts that cater well to families. Some might even look for Dubai Marina apartments for sale so that they and their family members can have a safe and relaxing time when they come to visit the city. Staying there means you’re far enough away from the bright lights of Dubai to enjoy the peace and quiet and close enough to reach all the attractions quickly. Of course, there are plenty of family-friendly hotels in Dubai itself as well. Do your research, read up on the facilities and make sure you choose a hotel that caters to exactly what you want from your family holiday to Dubai.
